22-year-old sentenced to two years for stealing iron rods

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has sentenced Abdulraheem Abbas, 22, to two years in prison for stealing iron rods valued at N250,000.

Abbas, whose address remains undisclosed, pleaded guilty to the charge of theft.

Magistrate Maruff Mudashiru subsequently handed down the two-year sentence, which includes hard labor, at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.

Prosecutor Inspector Femi Oluwadare informed the court that Abbas committed the theft on June 3 at around 2:00 a.m. in the Ologuneru area of Ibadan. According to Oluwadare, the iron rods, owned by Salaudeen Gafar, were intended to cover drainage for vehicle passage.

The offence violated Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
