Ogun police warn public of ‘one-chance’ robbery after victim loses N700,000

The Ogun State Police Command has issued a warning to the public about a notorious “one-chance” gang operating along the Sagamu, Ijebu Ode to Mowe Expressway.

Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, made this known in a statement late Wednesday, noting that several complaints have been received from residents.

One recent incident involved a victim who was robbed of N700,000 at gunpoint after boarding a vehicle from Kajola.

Odutola urged traders and business owners to avoid traveling with large sums of cash and advised commuters to record and share videos with the police if they feel uncertain about a vehicle they’ve boarded.

“The Ogun State Police Command has been flooded with reports about a notorious gang operating between Sagamu and Mowe,” Odutola stated. “If you are in doubt about the vehicle you are in, make a video of your trip and upload it to the police media.”

She also emphasized the importance of warning traders and business owners not to carry significant amounts of cash during their travels.

“Today, a victim who boarded a vehicle from Kajola was forced at gunpoint to transfer N700,000 via a POS machine after being driven to a secluded street,” Odutola added.

The police command is currently investigating the incident.
