Super Eagles interim coach, Eguavoen debunks resignation rumour

Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen has debunked reports he has quit the position.

There were reports on Tuesday that Eguavoen had left the job following the Super Eagles 0-0 draw with the Amavubi of Rwanda.

The 59-year-old has however quickly moved to dispel the rumour.

“It’s just unfortunate that people just triggered something that is not correct and the situation we are in now, we don’t need negative stories,” the former defender said on the team’s arrival in Abuja as quoted by BSN Sports.

“I only said I’m going to sit down with the hierarchy of the Federation after these two games and how I will be prosecuting the next games.”

Eguavoen took charge of the Super Eagles in interim capacity following the failure of the NFF to appoint a substantive head coach for the team in time for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
