Ebonyi police confirm arrest of suspects linked to Nkalaha community attack

The Ebonyi State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the brutal attack on the Amagu Nkalaha community last Sunday, which resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people and the destruction of several buildings.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu revealed that a tactical team, sent by the State Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, worked with local villagers to intercept the suspect as he tried to flee the scene at the border between Nkalaha and Eha-amafu.

The suspect, identified as Maduabuchi Chimaobi Ebeh, is believed to be the same person seen in a viral video, which shows him being interrogated for about 3 minutes and 22 seconds.

During the video, the suspect allegedly named several individuals involved in the attack, including Nwa Mummy, Igbudu, Diamond, Ife, and Junior.

Following the lead from the suspect, the police raided the hideout of the attackers. However, the suspects fled before security forces arrived.

Authorities recovered several items, including three locally-made single-barreled guns, a uniform believed to be a police uniform, jungle boots, and Army camouflage shorts and trousers.

The Ebonyi Police Command’s statement assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects. The police also urged the public to report any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for the violence in the Nkalaha community.
