Ohanaeze youth council leader kidnapped by gunmen

Unidentified gunmen, dressed in black and reportedly numbering seven, have kidnapped Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), in Imo State.

Chilos Godsent, President of the Igbo National Council (INC), confirmed the abduction in a statement on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He revealed that Igboayaka was taken from Works Layout in Owerri on the evening of Saturday, February 8, 2025.

According to Godsent, the attackers, who arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV, forcibly took him away to an unknown location around 7 p.m.

He added that the victim’s family is in distress over the incident.

Calling for urgent action, Godsent urged the Imo State Police Command to swiftly investigate the matter, locate Igboayaka, and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The Igbo National Council (INC) demands that the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, immediately investigate the abduction of Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka and make their findings public,” his statement read.

As of the time of this report, the Imo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
