Newcastle United have once again set their sights on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with Napoli prepared to offload him in the upcoming transfer window.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has a €75 million price tag, drawing attention from multiple Premier League clubs, including Newcastle.
The Super Eagles forward has been in outstanding form, scoring 17 goals in 22 matches, as he looks to surpass his career-high 31-goal tally from the 2022/23 season.
Newcastle previously explored a move for Osimhen but withdrew due to Napoli’s £113 million asking price last summer. Now, with a reduced valuation, the Magpies are reconsidering the transfer to strengthen their attack alongside Alexander Isak.
A potential challenge remains Osimhen’s wages, which previously exceeded £200,000 per week at Napoli before dropping to £110,000 at Galatasaray. This could impact Newcastle’s decision-making.
Although Galatasaray are eager to retain him, the Turkish club lacks the financial capacity for a permanent deal. With Napoli willing to sell, Osimhen is expected to move on once his loan spell concludes.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has hinted at signing an experienced forward, making Osimhen a prime candidate. However, competition remains fierce, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and other Premier League clubs also monitoring the situation.
