Nigeria Police refutes reinstatement of SARS

The Nigeria Police Force has refuted widespread speculation suggesting that the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has been reinstated under a new operational framework.

In an official statement released in Abuja on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed that SARS, which was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, remains permanently dissolved.

He clarified, “The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has not been reintroduced. Any claims suggesting its return or restructuring should be treated with caution.”

ACP Adejobi also advised Nigerians to rely on verified sources for accurate information.

He urged the public to follow the official social media accounts of the Nigeria Police Force on X (@PoliceNG), Facebook (@ngpolice), and Instagram (@nigeriapoliceforce) for credible updates.

Emphasizing the importance of public awareness, he added, “Ensuring public safety and keeping citizens well-informed remains our priority. We urge everyone to stay vigilant and rely on official sources for information.”
