The family of renowned Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has declared him missing and called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to help locate him.
In a petition dated February 7 and signed by their lawyer, Wilson Anuge, the family stated that the music star has not been seen or heard from since February 10, 2025.
According to the petition, 2Baba left his residence that morning wearing loungewear, suggesting he had stepped out for his usual walk. However, he did not return, and all attempts to reach him by family members, staff, and colleagues have been unsuccessful.
The family expressed growing concern, noting that the singer has never disappeared before or neglected his commitments. They also pointed to a disturbing development—some of his close associates received messages from what appeared to be his social media accounts, requesting financial assistance. This raised alarm, as they insist 2Baba is financially independent and would not typically seek help in such a manner.
“These messages are highly suspicious and suggest that his identity may have been compromised. There is a real fear that he may have been abducted or placed under duress,” the petition read.
The family is now urging the DSS to step in urgently to investigate his disappearance and ensure his safe return.
“2Baba is not just a music legend but also a public figure with millions of admirers. His sudden disappearance has left his loved ones deeply distressed and has disrupted his work. We seek urgent intervention to locate him and bring him home safely,” they appealed.
Meanwhile, speculation intensified after a viral video on Thursday showed the singer proposing to Edo State House of Assembly member Natasha Osaruwa, fueling rumors about his reported separation from his wife, Annie Idibia.
Adding to the drama, his mother, Rose Idibia, released a video on Friday, urging Nigerians to plead with Natasha to release her son. She claimed that 2Baba had not been himself lately, further raising concerns about his well-being.
