The Osun State government has announced plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants at various malls and lounges across the state as part of efforts to encourage safe sex practices on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Olusegun Daramola, the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), explained that the initiative aims to raise awareness and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
“To support safer practices, condoms and lubricants will be made available at designated locations, including malls and lounges. Residents are encouraged to approach our vendors to access these essential resources. Let’s spread love responsibly, not infections,” the agency advised.
Daramola also urged residents to prioritize their health by avoiding unprotected sex, emphasizing that HIV/AIDS remains a serious public health concern.
“It is crucial to steer clear of risky behaviors such as unprotected intercourse. We encourage everyone who hasn’t been tested to do so and be aware of their HIV status,” he stated.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke’s administration to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun State and called on residents to support efforts to eliminate AIDS by 2030.
