Army Chief gives troops 30 days to capture Bello Turji

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin Daji, to capture notorious bandit leader Bello Turji within 30 days, either dead or alive.

Oluyede issued the directive on Thursday while addressing soldiers at the 1 Brigade Headquarters in Gusau during his visit to Zamfara State.

He stressed the urgency of eliminating Turji, whose criminal activities have been a major source of violence in Zamfara, Sokoto, and parts of Kebbi State.

“I don’t want to hear about Turji terrorizing Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi any longer. You have 30 days to find and capture him along with his key allies, no matter where they are hiding,” he ordered.

Reaffirming the army’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel, Oluyede introduced a housing scheme aimed at helping soldiers secure their own homes before retirement.

“We have launched an owner-occupier housing initiative to ensure that every soldier has a decent home before leaving the service,” he said.

He also assured the troops that all necessary resources and logistical support would be provided to strengthen their fight against banditry and terrorism in the Northwest region.
