Akinremi leads UNESCO training on cybersecurity, AI, data protection for civil servants

Gabriel Akinremi, alongside Dr. Raymond Onuoha, recently facilitated a week-long capacity-building program organized by UNESCO to equip civil servants with essential skills in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data privacy, and digital governance.

The initiative aimed to bridge the digital divide and strengthen the ability of public officials to navigate the complexities of an increasingly digital world.

The training provided participants with in-depth knowledge on safeguarding sensitive government data, leveraging AI for improved public service delivery, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Through interactive sessions, case studies, and hands-on exercises, civil servants gained practical insights into the importance of cybersecurity, the transformative potential of AI in governance, and the need for stringent data privacy measures to maintain public trust.

The program was attended by key government officials, including the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, as well as directors and middle managers from the Federal Ministry of Youth-Driven Development and the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

The training concluded with participants receiving certificates and endorsing the program’s relevance in enhancing digital governance and security.

By investing in the digital capacity of civil servants, this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a secure, innovative, and efficient public service that embraces technology for improved governance.
