BREAKING: Mojisola Meranda steps down as Lagos Assembly Speaker

Mojisola Meranda has officially resigned from her position as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

She made the announcement during a special plenary session on Monday, where she read out her resignation letter, stating, “I hereby step down as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

Meranda took office on January 13, 2025, after the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is expected to be reinstated.

Despite her short tenure, lawmakers commended her leadership and efforts in maintaining stability within the Assembly.

Along with Meranda, all principal officers who assumed office with her have also resigned.

Details later.
