Angel Reese advocates higher WNBA salaries amid CBA negotiations

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been vocal about WNBA salaries, expressing frustration over her current earnings despite the league’s growing popularity.

Reese, who signed a four-year, $324,383 rookie contract, is set to earn just under $75,000 in 2025, according to Spotrac. While the WNBA Players Association has opted out of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) — which runs until October 31, 2025 — Reese hinted at potential game boycotts if negotiations don’t meet player expectations.

“If y’all don’t give us what we want, we’re sitting out,” Reese said on her Unapologetically Angel podcast while speaking with fellow WNBA player Dijonai Carrington.

With the next CBA set to take effect in 2026, Reese is eager for change, especially as the league’s popularity surges. The WNBA recently secured an 11-year, $2.2 billion media rights deal with Disney, Amazon Prime, and NBCUniversal, set to begin in 2026.

Despite the financial boost, current rookie contracts remain low. Reese pointed out that upcoming draft classes could earn more than she and Caitlin Clark while they remain on their original contracts. “It hurts,” she admitted, while Carrington confirmed that concern from league meetings.

Reese, who averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, and provided a strong defensive presence for the Sky, has previously highlighted that her WNBA salary doesn’t cover her living expenses, including her $8,000-per-month rent.

“Hating pays my bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all,” Reese said on Instagram. “I’m living beyond my means!”
However, Reese has secured endorsement deals with Reebok, Reese’s, and Beats by Dre, supplementing her income. She has also competed in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league, which offers six-figure salaries to its 36 players.

With the upcoming CBA negotiations, Reese and other WNBA stars are pushing for salaries that better reflect the league’s growth and financial success.
