Police foil robbery at Abuja motor park, arrest one suspect

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigerian Police Force successfully thwarted a robbery attempt at Gwagwalada Motor Park, apprehending one suspect while others managed to escape.

According to intelligence sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the incident took place on Thursday around 7:25 p.m. when a group of 15 armed criminals stormed the park, attacking traders and commuters.

A swift police response followed a distress call, leading to the deployment of a surveillance team.

On spotting the officers, the assailants fled, leaving behind a Golf 3 vehicle with registration number RSH 193 DB.

One suspect was captured but suffered a brutal attack from an angry mob before being rescued by the police.

He was subsequently taken to Asokoro Hospital for medical attention.

Law enforcement officers recovered weapons from the abandoned vehicle, which has been impounded as investigations continue.
