JUST IN: Seven kidnappers killed in police raids across two states

The Nigeria Police Force has eliminated seven suspected kidnappers in Abia and Nasarawa states, successfully rescuing four abducted victims in separate security operations.

During the operations, police recovered two AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and thirty-four rounds of live ammunition. The victims were taken to a police hospital for medical evaluation.

A statement from Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Sunday highlighted that the raids were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in kidnapping and gunrunning.

The Abia State Police Command, acting on intelligence, traced the whereabouts of four kidnapped victims taken on March 9, 2025.

On March 14, tactical operatives raided a three-bedroom bungalow in Osokwa, Osisioma LGA, where the captors were hiding.

After a fierce gun battle, six kidnappers were killed, and all victims were freed unharmed.

In Nasarawa, a joint operation involving the police, Nigerian Army, and local vigilantes targeted a wanted kidnapper, Abdullahi, also known as “Honor.”

The suspect was confronted near Akwanga Central Mosque while attempting to escape on a motorcycle. When he attempted to resist arrest using a firearm, security forces neutralized him.

A Beretta pistol and twelve rounds of live ammunition were recovered. Another suspect fled with injuries, and authorities have launched a manhunt.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun lauded the officers for their swift action and reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to combating crime.

He warned criminal elements to abandon their activities or face decisive consequences.
