Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted an attempt to smuggle cocaine concealed inside prayer beads and locally made footwear.
According to the agency, the suspects were apprehended while trying to transport the illegal substances to the Holy Land.
NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed the seizure in a post on X.com on Sunday, sharing images of the confiscated drugs.
“In this sacred month, while many are devoted to worship and prayer, some individuals were focused on smuggling cocaine hidden in prayer beads and footwear, intending to defile the sanctity of the Holy Land,” the statement read.
The NDLEA confirmed that its officers successfully intercepted the traffickers and seized the illicit substances.
