BREAKING: Rivers Assembly moves to impeach Governor Fubara, Deputy

The political crisis in Rivers State has escalated as the State House of Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Lawmakers submitted a notice of allegations of gross misconduct to the Speaker through the Clerk of the Assembly, accusing the governor of reckless and unconstitutional spending of public funds.

The petition references violations of Sections 120, 121(1)(2), and 122 of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended).

This move, brought under Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution, officially sets the stage for impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy.
