BREAKING: Explosion strikes trans-Niger pipeline in Rivers

A fire outbreak has been reported following an explosion along the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, and it is unclear whether it was due to technical issues or sabotage. The incident occurs amid heightened tensions, as militant groups have recently issued threats to target oil infrastructure following the Federal Government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s allocation due to ongoing political disagreements.

The explosion, which took place on Monday night, affected a key pipeline responsible for transporting crude oil to the Bonny Terminal. Authorities are expected to carry out investigations to determine the cause and assess the extent of the damage.
