Nigerian Army announces shooting drill in Akwa Ibom, urges residents to stay away

The Nigerian Army has planned a shooting exercise in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, scheduled to run from Wednesday, March 19, to Friday, March 28, 2025.

In an official statement, Lieutenant Adebowale Adejimi, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, explained that the drill is part of the army’s first-quarter range classification for the year.

Residents in and around the designated training zone have been advised to keep a safe distance during the period. The army reassured the public that while gunfire may be heard, there is no cause for concern, as comprehensive safety measures have been put in place.

The shooting exercise will take place at the 6 Bn Range Area in Abak, and authorities have called for public cooperation to ensure a smooth and incident-free operation.
