Police bust drug syndicate supplying bandits, Boko Haram insurgents

In a major breakthrough, the FID-STS arrested three suspected drug traffickers in Potiskum, Yobe State, while they were transporting a large consignment of drugs allegedly meant for bandits and insurgents.

The suspects, identified as Alhaji Usman Yahaya (50), Joseph Matthew (27), and Solomon Bala (25), were caught on February 1, 2025, in possession of 30 cartons of codeine syrups and other hard drugs.

“They have confessed that these drugs were intended for supply to bandits, Boko Haram insurgents, and kidnappers terrorizing Yobe State and neighbouring countries,” ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated.

The police assured that further investigations would be carried out to dismantle the drug distribution network.

Meanwhile, a separate operation on February 3, 2025, led to the arrest of three suspected arms dealers in possession of 10 AK-47 rifles.

The suspects, Yusuf Dantani (24), Usman Labaran (32), and Musa Mohammed (23), were apprehended by FID-STS operatives while attempting to finalize an arms deal.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to being involved in multiple arms transactions.

“They disclosed that they had received N3,980,000 for their last batch of arms,” ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal enterprises and bringing perpetrators to justice.

Citizens were encouraged to support security efforts by providing timely and accurate information to law enforcement agencies.
