Residents of Dutsin-Ma town in Katsina State were left in fear on Tuesday night when armed bandits launched an attack, abducting two students from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma.
The assailants targeted the Bayan Gidan Radio area, where the students were taken under the cover of darkness.
Security analyst Bakatsine confirmed the incident in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday.
According to him, the gunmen stormed the area late at night, creating panic among residents before seizing the students and fleeing.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued Katsina State in recent years, with schools and communities frequently targeted.
The abduction has raised fresh concerns about the safety of students and residents in the state, as many have called on authorities to strengthen security in the region.
Katsina has been grappling with widespread banditry, with criminals repeatedly carrying out kidnappings, killings, and raids on villages.
Attempts to obtain an official statement from the Katsina State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
Meanwhile, families of the abducted students remain anxious, hoping for swift action to secure their release.
