The Kano State Police Command has successfully dismantled a network of kidnappers and armed robbers, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects and the recovery of ₦4.85 million in ransom money, alongside various weapons.
Following directives from Inspector-General of Police Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Kano’s new Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has reinforced security operations across the state to tackle criminal activities.
Among the rescued victims is 21-year-old Muhammad Bello, who was kidnapped in Zakirai Town on March 8.
His captors demanded ₦15 million before a specialized police team, led by CSP Bala Shuaibu, launched a sting operation, capturing five suspects and retrieving part of the ransom along with a Dane gun.
In another security breakthrough, officers responding to a distress call in Badawa Layout arrested two suspected armed robbers, Awwal Hassan Ibrahim and Suleiman Umar.
A Beretta pistol loaded with live ammunition was recovered. Additionally, police intercepted another suspect, Shuaibu Yakubu, who was found with an AK-47 rifle inside a red Pontiac Vibe.
Authorities confirmed that all suspects are undergoing investigation and will be charged in court. CP Bakori reaffirmed the police’s dedication to ensuring safety across Kano State.
