A 28-year-old worshipper, Usman Mohammed, was fatally stabbed during an attack on a mosque in Kaduna State, turning a night of Tahajjud prayers into a scene of tragedy.
The incident occurred on Friday around 2 p.m. at Layin Bilya, Makwa Road, in the Rigasa-Tudun Wada area, where worshippers had gathered for special late-night prayers.
However, their devotion was violently interrupted when a group of armed individuals stormed the mosque.
Spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, reported that the attackers came from Malalin Gabas, Tudun Wada, Rafin Guza, and Unguwar Baduko.
By the time law enforcement and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force arrived, Usman had already succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities acted swiftly, arresting 12 suspects who later confessed to their involvement in the attack. Security operatives also recovered several weapons from them.
A comprehensive investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack and ensure justice for the victim.
In response, the police have strengthened security around mosques and other key locations to prevent similar incidents.
Residents have been urged to remain watchful and report any suspicious activities, as law enforcement warns of severe consequences for those engaging in criminal acts.
