Lagos police nab suspected car thief, recover two stolen vehicles

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspect linked to a car theft syndicate operating across different regions.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating that officers apprehended the suspect in the Ikotun area following an intelligence-led operation.

Investigations revealed that the syndicate specializes in stealing vehicles from the eastern part of Nigeria and transporting them to Lagos for resale.

The suspect allegedly confessed to receiving three Lexus 330 models and a 2017 Lexus 350 from an accomplice—a woman who remains at large.

Following the suspect’s confession, police operatives traced the locations where the stolen vehicles were sold, leading to the recovery of a silver Lexus 350 and a black Lexus 330.

Authorities have intensified efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and retrieve additional stolen cars. Hundeyin noted that the suspect is cooperating with the police in their ongoing investigation.
