POS operator murdered in Adamawa, police launch investigation

A Point of Sale (POS) operator, Abbas Yuguda, was gruesomely killed in Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa State while returning home from work.

The attack happened on March 22, 2025, when a group of armed assailants ambushed the 35-year-old, inflicting fatal head injuries before leaving him critically wounded.

According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, officers from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital in an attempt to save his life.

However, he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

In the aftermath of the attack, a suspect identified as Umar SNU was chased down by an irate mob and severely beaten before police intervened, rescuing him from the crowd.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment and is now in custody, aiding police investigations.

Condemning the incident, Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, assured that those responsible would be held accountable.

“This brutal killing will not go unpunished,” CP Morris stated. “We have launched a thorough investigation, and I urge residents to avoid mob action and allow the legal system to take its course.”

The police have called on the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities as efforts continue to track down other suspects involved in the crime.
