Ex-Rivers HoS accuses Fubara of ordering Assembly attack, wife raises alarm

Dr. George Nwaeke, the former Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, has alleged that the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was behind the bombing of the state House of Assembly complex in 2023.

He claimed the action was taken to prevent lawmakers, who were loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from impeaching Fubara.

Nwaeke made this statement while addressing journalists on Friday.

However, the situation took an unexpected turn when his wife, Florence, publicly expressed shock, insisting that the man in the interview did not seem like her husband.

During an emotional interview with Channels TV, Florence disclosed that she had lost contact with her husband after he traveled to Abuja.

“He called me when he arrived in Abuja, and I was relieved. But later that evening, people started calling, saying he was granting an interview. I was shocked and asked, ‘What interview?’” she recounted.

Upon seeing the interview online, she immediately doubted its authenticity.

“I kept saying, ‘This is not my husband!’ I sent him several messages, asking if he was being forced or if he had been kidnapped, but he has not replied,” she cried out.

Florence further alleged that her husband was pressured to resign because he refused to sign certain documents that could implicate Governor Fubara.

“He told me he would rather step down than be part of it. That’s why he decided to resign,” she explained.

“Governor, please help me! My husband is in danger!”

As uncertainty surrounds Nwaeke’s situation, concerns continue to mount over his safety and the circumstances leading to his statements.
