Nine killed, 11 injured in fatal road crash

A tragic road accident on the Malumfashi–Kafur Road in Katsina State has claimed the lives of nine people, leaving 11 others injured.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aliyu Ma’aji, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, attributing the crash to excessive speeding.

According to preliminary findings, the accident involved a Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speed, leading to the fatal crash.

“The FRSC Katsina State Command reports a tragic accident in Malumfashi town. A Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers crashed, resulting in nine fatalities. Eleven others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment,” Ma’aji stated.

He advised motorists to exercise caution, avoid speeding, and adhere to traffic regulations, particularly during the festive season.

He also emphasized that while the government continues to improve road infrastructure, unsafe driving remains a leading cause of fatal accidents.
