Fubara orders audit of 23 LGA accounts for past 3 years

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has directed the state auditor general to audit the accounts of the 23 Local Government Areas for the past three years.

This announcement was made during the swearing-in ceremony for the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the Local Government Areas on Wednesday, June 19.

The governor emphasized that this audit aims to ensure accountability for the incoming officials.

Governor Fubara encouraged the newly appointed caretaker chairmen to act in the best interests of their communities and prove the government’s decision to appoint them was correct.

He also highlighted that the opposition to tenure extension is a national issue, as allowing it in one state could set a precedent for others across Nigeria.

Additionally, the governor mentioned that the process for local government area elections would begin soon.
