The Federal Government has approved N452 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of 14 key roads across Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced the approval following the 23rd Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.
He stated that the funds would be distributed across various states to accelerate the completion of strategic road projects under the Renewed Hope Administration’s infrastructure agenda.
Among the approved projects is the N22 billion Agaie-Katcha-Baro Road in Niger State, awarded to GR Building Construction Limited.
Additionally, Samatech has been contracted to rehabilitate the Odukpani Junction and the central section of the Calabar–Ikom–Ogoja Road in Cross River State for N26.335 billion.
Other major projects include:
Ajaokuta-Ajibo/Iyana-Mosa Road (Ogun State) – N10.89 billion
Inoma-Iyaka-Abaji section of Ibaji-Odulu-Ajibu Road (Anambra State) – N9.33 billion
Umuahia-Ituano-Ikot Ekpene Road – N14.37 billion (awarded to Heartland Reckon Construction Company)
Kaduna-Jos Road (Phase 1) – N33.42 billion
Yola-Fufure Road – N11.81 billion
Ijebu-Ibutita-Ebe Road (Ogun State) – N13 billion
Furthermore, an additional N30 billion has been allocated for the completion of the Lagos-Ibadan Road, specifically the section leading into Lagos. A rescoping of the AK Bypass, awarded to Ghitto Construction Limited, will also be undertaken with a budget of N7 billion.
Beyond road construction, the government has also approved several water infrastructure projects to enhance water supply in Abuja and surrounding areas.
Umahi assured that these projects would be closely monitored to ensure timely completion, emphasizing the government’s commitment to nationwide infrastructure development.
