Amuneke backs Osimhen’s decision to stay at Galatasaray

Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed support for Victor Osimhen’s choice to remain at Galatasaray, despite interest from top European clubs during the January transfer window.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan at the Turkish club from Napoli, rejected offers from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea to honor his commitment to Galatasaray.

Speaking in an interview with Africafoot, Amuneke praised the striker’s decision, stating, “I think he made the right call to stay at Galatasaray and not rush into a transfer, despite multiple interests.

He has been well received and appreciated in Turkey, and it is important for him to show gratitude.

He was able to rediscover his full potential because Galatasaray gave him an opportunity after his fallout with Napoli.”

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan last summer following a dispute with Napoli’s management, a situation that also saw him turn down potential moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia over personal terms.

Despite a clause in his loan deal allowing for a January transfer, the 26-year-old opted to remain with the Turkish giants, keeping the promise he made to the club after scoring a brace against Tottenham in the Europa League last November.
