Tanker explosion wrecks havoc, destroys vehicles, properties

A devastating explosion in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, has left several vehicles, shops, and goods completely burnt.

The fire started when a gas tanker was offloading its content at a filling station in the area. The explosion, which occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday, spread rapidly and took several hours before firefighters could bring it under control.

Eyewitnesses reported that the blast caused panic in nearby communities, forcing many residents to flee their homes in fear. One of the residents, Abdul Sabon-Wusa, described how the flames extended to a neighboring petrol station, destroying shops and vehicles parked nearby.

“We are thankful that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded,” he said. “If this had happened during the day when businesses were open, it could have been a much bigger disaster for the state.” He added that the fire was so intense that its flames could be seen from different parts of Sabon Wuse, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
