Eighteen out of 29 federal directors who sat for the Permanent Secretary qualifying examination have failed to meet the required 50% pass mark, leaving only 11 candidates eligible for the next stage of the selection process.
This was revealed in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Gabriel Aduda, on behalf of the examination committee. The memo stated that the successful candidates would proceed to the next phase of the selection process, scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation had earlier announced the commencement of the selection process to fill vacant Permanent Secretary positions in the federal civil service.
In a separate memo, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, clarified that directors currently facing disciplinary actions were ineligible to apply. The memo also confirmed that President Bola Tinubu had approved the appointment process.
Additionally, it emphasized that only candidates from specific states were eligible to ensure adherence to the Federal Character principle.
