Jane Doe drops sexual assault lawsuit against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jay-Z

American woman Jane Doe who accused Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z of sexually assaulting her 25 years ago has withdrawn her lawsuit, according to a court filing on Friday.

The notice of voluntary dismissal, filed by Jane Doe’s attorneys, states that the lawsuit has been dropped with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled in the future.

“Counsel of Plaintiff have discussed this matter with counsel for each Defendant, who acknowledge and consent to this submission,” the filing reads.

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, welcomed the dismissal, calling the lawsuit “false” and stating, “By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can – he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”

Doe initially filed her lawsuit against Combs in October 2024, alleging she was drugged and raped by him and another celebrity at an afterparty for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when she was 13 years old.

In December, she amended the lawsuit to add Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, as a defendant, accusing him of rape.

Carter strongly denied the allegations, urging Doe to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil lawsuit. His legal team had repeatedly attempted to have the case dismissed before Doe’s withdrawal.

A judge had previously denied Carter’s request to dismiss the lawsuit and had allowed Doe to proceed anonymously. However, in January, Carter’s attorneys again sought dismissal, pointing to inconsistencies in Doe’s allegations and requesting sanctions against her legal team.

Doe acknowledged inconsistencies in her recollection but maintained her claim of being raped.

Her attorney, Tony Buzbee, previously told CNN, “Our client remains fiercely adamant that what she has stated is true, to the best of her memory.”

Combs’ attorneys also responded to the lawsuit’s dismissal, calling it “another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.”

Combs, who is facing more than 40 sexual assault lawsuits, was indicted in September on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Following the lawsuit’s dismissal, Combs’ attorney reiterated, “He has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
Doe’s attorney declined to comment on the case’s dismissal.
