Presidency advises Nigerians to seek extra income sources

The Presidency has urged Nigerians to explore alternative ways to supplement their income, emphasizing that relying on a single source of earnings is no longer sustainable given the nation’s economic situation.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, made this statement during an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday.

He stated, “Find something else to augment your income. You cannot live on one income.”

Onanuga acknowledged the economic challenges faced by Nigerians but pointed out that the current administration inherited these difficulties from the previous government.

He assured that President Tinubu’s policies are aimed at economic improvement, as reflected in recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

He also addressed comments made by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo regarding former military leader Ibrahim Babangida.

During a review of Babangida’s autobiography, A Journey in Service, Osinbajo described him as a “tormentor” of Tinubu, referencing the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election and the subsequent dissolution of the Senate, which Tinubu had opposed as a senator at the time.

However, Onanuga disagreed with this view, arguing that Babangida was not an adversary but rather an influence on Tinubu’s political career.

He explained that Babangida’s push for fresh political leadership inspired many professionals, including Tinubu, to enter politics. He further noted that Tinubu himself has acknowledged Babangida’s role in shaping his political journey.
