The Federal High Court in Abakaliki has upheld the expulsion of Ali Odefa, the former National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Odefa was suspended on October 4, 2024, by the PDP ward executive in Oguduokwor, Oshiri Community, Onicha Local Government Area, over allegations of anti-party activities.
Despite this, he continued to act in his former capacity, prompting the ward executive to seek legal intervention.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, Justice Hilary Oshomah upheld the expulsion and granted all the reliefs requested by the ward executive committee.
The suit was filed by Moses Idika, Herbert Ovuta, Emmanuel Uzor, and Uzoamaka Ude on behalf of the ward executive, naming Odefa, the PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.
Justice Oshomah affirmed that Odefa’s removal from the party was legitimate, directing the PDP to prevent him from functioning as the party’s National Vice Chairman in the South-East.
He also ruled that Odefa should no longer have access to the office or represent the party in any official capacity.
