Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has addressed her visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Abuja, where she was questioned regarding an alleged N138 million fraud.
Recall that Top Newspaper had reported that the anti graft agency questioned the former Minister yesterday.
Confirming the visit, Kennedy-Ohanenye shared details via her official X handle, stating that she arrived at the EFCC headquarters at 2:15 p.m., engaged in discussions from 2:50 p.m., and left at 6:50 p.m.
She described the session as an opportunity to provide “comprehensive clarifications” concerning financial matters from her time in office.
She commended the EFCC for its professionalism and reassured the agency of her full cooperation in any ongoing inquiries.
“I appreciate the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality. It was important for me to clear the air on the recent speculations in the media,” she stated.
Kennedy-Ohanenye also defended her financial stewardship, asserting that public funds were managed responsibly under her leadership. She further disclosed that she personally contributed resources to support various initiatives aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Throughout my tenure, my team and I worked diligently, ensuring the efficient use of available resources. We even went beyond by adding personal funds to support our programs, demonstrating our commitment to the welfare of Nigerian women and children,” she said.
