Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has claimed that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, has been deliberately avoiding him.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday, March 12, at the entrance of the Assembly quarters, Fubara stated that despite repeated efforts to contact the Speaker, he had received no response.
The governor, accompanied by senior government officials, including Secretary to the State Government Tammy Danagogo and Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, arrived at the Assembly complex only to find the gates locked, preventing their entry.
“I have made multiple attempts to reach the Speaker before coming here. I even sent an official letter regarding this invitation,” Fubara explained. “But as you can see, the gates are shut, and there is no sign that any proceedings will take place today.”
He stressed that his actions were guided by his commitment to serving the people of Rivers State.
“Everything I am doing is for the benefit of our people, which remains my top priority. There is nothing to be worried about. I expect to hear from them after today,” he added.
