BREAKING; Fubara ready to resubmit 2025 budget amid legislative impasse

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has restated his commitment to presenting the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly whenever the lawmakers are prepared to receive it.

He made this declaration on Wednesday while inaugurating health facilities in Khana Local Government Area.

His comments followed an incident in which he was barred from accessing the Assembly quarters, despite prior notification to Speaker Martins Amaewhule about his planned visit.

Expressing frustration over the development, Fubara emphasized his willingness to resolve the issue as soon as the legislators are given the directive to engage.

“If they are instructed later, I am still ready to come any day to address this matter,” he stated.

Top News reported that in a tense standoff, Governor Fubara was prevented from entering the official quarters of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, where lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike have been convening.

Arriving at the premises alongside top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, and Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, Fubara found the gates locked, blocking his entry.

Speaking to journalists, he accused Speaker Martins Amaewhule of deliberately avoiding him, revealing that repeated phone calls to the lawmaker went unanswered.
