The Labour Party has extended its ongoing membership registration and validation exercise until May.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the party’s spokesperson, Obiora Ifoh.
Following a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC), the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, announced that congresses at the ward, local government, and state levels would now be held between June and July.
Initially, the registration and validation exercise was set to end on January 31, with ward congresses scheduled between February and March.
However, in a bid to expand its membership to over 20 million ahead of the 2027 general elections, the party introduced an online platform for registration and validation.
Abure also assured party members in Anambra that the upcoming governorship primaries would be conducted with fairness and transparency.
“I want to assure our members in Anambra that, as always, our primaries and congresses will be conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. Our party believes in doing things differently to achieve better results,” he stated.
