I won’t be a bigot, my wife Is RCCG Pastor – Tinubu says

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing security challenges in the country without religious bias.

Speaking on Friday when he received members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at the State House in Abuja, he assured Nigerians that his administration remains impartial in handling national issues.

“Insecurity affects everyone, whether Christian or Muslim. I have no religious bias; I won’t be a bigot. My wife is a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God,” Tinubu said in a statement released by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

The President emphasized the need for national unity, urging Nigerians to focus on the country’s development beyond religious differences. He assured the bishops of his willingness to listen and maintain an open-door policy.

Amid ongoing economic challenges, Tinubu reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing solutions and fostering economic growth.

He acknowledged the difficulties caused by his decision to remove the fuel subsidy but maintained that it was necessary to prevent economic collapse.

“Removing the fuel subsidy was a tough decision, but Nigeria had to face it. We cannot bankrupt our country. There is hope—investors are coming in, and they are speaking positively about Nigeria. What seemed like a difficult beginning is now showing signs of progress,” he stated.

He also noted that security agencies were making efforts to curb insecurity, adding that both Christians and Muslims have felt the impact of these measures.

The President expressed optimism about the country’s future, thanking religious leaders for their prayers and support.
