PDP unbothered by Atiku’s political engagements, Wike’s legal actions – Abdullahi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed concerns over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent meetings with Social Democratic Party (SDP) member Hamza Al-Mustapha, insisting that such discussions do not pose a threat to the party’s stability.

Speaking with DAILY POST, PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated that the party remains focused on uniting opposition forces to challenge the ruling party in 2027.

“Atiku’s interactions with political figures are his personal decision and do not reflect PDP’s official position,” Abdullahi said. “We are actively engaging with opposition parties to strengthen our position ahead of the next election, and this does not concern us.”

Addressing speculation about Atiku possibly defecting to the SDP, Abdullahi asserted that the party would handle the situation if it arises.

“If he decides to leave, that is entirely his choice. No individual is greater than the party,” he added.

Regarding former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s legal efforts to prevent his expulsion from the PDP, Abdullahi dismissed the court rulings as attempts to create instability, stating that they would not disrupt the party.

“These numerous court orders are unnecessary, but PDP has always withstood political challenges. We have navigated difficult times before, and we will do so again,” he stated.

Highlighting the party’s resilience, Abdullahi noted PDP’s contributions to economic development, democratic reforms, and governance.

“No political party in Nigeria has endured as long as PDP. We governed for 16 years and made Nigeria one of the fastest-growing economies. Our achievements remain, and the party is prepared for renewal,” he concluded.

As Nigeria’s political landscape evolves, the PDP remains focused on maintaining its influence despite internal and external pressures.
