NAF destroys terrorist stronghold in Mandara mountain

As part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts under Operation Hadin Kai, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a strategic airstrike on a key terrorist hideout in the Mandara Mountains, specifically targeting locations in Chikide and Degbewa, Borno State.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NAF confirmed that the nighttime operation was aimed at disrupting the activities of insurgents and inflicting severe damage on their operational base.

According to intelligence gathered before the strike, the targeted site was a major gathering point for terrorists, including a high-profile commander, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters, who were believed to be planning an attack. Surveillance also identified fortified structures equipped with solar-powered installations, reinforcing the location’s significance.

Acting on this intelligence, NAF executed a well-coordinated nighttime assault, catching the insurgents off guard. The airstrike successfully destroyed their command center and logistical facilities, with multiple structures set ablaze and a significant number of terrorists neutralized.

NAF stated that the strike has substantially weakened the insurgents’ operational capabilities, creating an opportunity for ground troops to take control of the area.

“This successful operation highlights NAF’s growing ability to conduct precision airstrikes at any time of day or night, making it increasingly difficult for terrorists to operate undetected,” the statement read.

The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustained air operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in the region.
