Tension has gripped Akure, the Ondo State capital, as protesters have taken over the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka following the reported killing of five farmers by armed herdsmen within the past 24 hours.
The latest attack occurred at Aba Oyinbo in Akure North Local Government Area, where the victims were shot dead during an invasion by suspected herdsmen.
Angry protesters stormed the Governor’s Office, carrying the bodies of the deceased as they demanded immediate action from the government.
This incident comes barely two weeks after a similar attack in the same local government, where about 20 farmers lost their lives across four farm settlements.
