Suspected cattle rustler arrested as troops recover arms in Plateau

Troops conducting security operations in Plateau State have captured a suspected cattle rustler and recovered stolen livestock, arms, and ammunition following a raid in Mangu Local Government Area.

Under Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, security forces acted on intelligence about criminal activities in the Sabon Layi area, launching an operation that led to a shootout with cattle thieves.

The assailants managed to escape during the gunfight, abandoning a herd of rustled cattle.

However, troops successfully arrested one suspect, identified as Nashak Wilson, 29, from Jwakkom Village.

He was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle with two rounds of ammunition.

A total of 30 stolen cows were recovered and returned to their rightful owner, Alhaji Yakuba Musa of Kwahas Village.

The military stated that the suspect is currently in custody while efforts continue to capture the fleeing members of the criminal group.
