Ali Ndume sacked as Senate Chief Whip

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally written to Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, requesting that Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South resign from the party and join either the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or another opposition party.

In a letter signed by APC National Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje and National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Basiru, the party also announced the removal of Senator Ali Ndume from his position as Chief Whip of the 10th Senate. He has been replaced by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno of Borno North.

The APC cited Ndume’s criticisms of President Bola Tinubu as inappropriate and expressed concern that his statements were not in alignment with the Federal Government’s objectives.

The request received unanimous support from APC Senators during a session chaired by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
